This is my house! And my mom’s garden (photo lifted from her facebook :P). We spend most of our time sitting on the porch, especially during summer, since we don’t put on the AC unless it’s SUPER HOT. Mom probably has it on now, since it’s supposed to get up to 100F tomorrow! That window over the roof is my room :) It sounds awesome when it rains on the tin roof, but what I’m really wanting are the tomatoes growing in that garden! There is nothing better than home-grown tomatoes, seriously. This photo makes the garden look a bigger than it really is, but we have tomatoes, assorted peppers, cantaloupe, cucumbers, lettuce, basil, and probably a lot of things I’m missing because I don’t do the gardening :P
Pretty spot-on, I suppose. Though for my other tumblr (mostly for spamming purposes), I’m supposedly 66-100 years old LOL
I just read this book in less than one day. It was amazing. My third book of the summer and definitely the best so far. It has this wonderful bit of melancholy weaved in throughout the entire book and the tension that builds as you learn, little by little, who these children are and the full extent of their purpose is just amazing, all the way down into how even the way they speak to each other seems just a tad unnatural. I’m dying to watch the movie now, to see how it compares. I’m sure it won’t quite live up (what book-to-movies do?), but I’ve heard awesome stuff about the movie, too, so we shall see! Anyway, though, anyone who has not read this book should go out and get it right now because it’s just so wonderful.
And cue the tears…. This video is short and sweet and, yes, made me a little teary.
Breakfast: two scrambled eggs, three pieces of bacon, and a piece of toast smothered with butter and brown sugar.
There’s also grapefruit juice. :)
Our government is working on passing a bill to stop all federal funding to Planned Parenthood for the purpose of reducing the amount of abortions performed. This is ridiculous for a number of reasons. For starters, abortions are not funded by the government in the first place. Because of this, cutting funding from PP would only effectively reduce all the other good things they do, namely birth control services, testing/treatment for STDs, cancer services, many other women’s health services, and, most of all, EDUCATION about not only sex but health in general. Furthermore, abortions only make up 3% of what Planned Parenthood really does. If you want more information, check it out here. The above link will take you to a letter towards Congress that you can sign to try to stop this action from going any further.
